Visual Navigation Drone
The latest issue of Science Robotics showcases a drone capable of visual route tracking and navigation in forests. Van Dijk and others from Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands were inspired by insects such as ants to develop a long-distance trajectory tracking strategy for robots, enabling small unmanned aerial vehicles to achieve autonomous navigation without high computational requirements.
This strategy combines odometry with highly compressed visual snapshot to record travel distance with minimal memory consumption, and then uses visual navigation on the return journey to minimize the possibility of drone navigation deviating from the route

With the advancement and development of drone technology, drones have been widely used in many fields such as logistics transportation, firefighting and disaster relief, counter-terrorism reconnaissance, and more.
In armed conflicts around the world, the application of drones has changed the form of warfare and also affected the outcome of wars. Many countries are increasingly attaching importance to the strategic reserve of drones, including the training of drone pilots, the import and development of various types of drones, and production. Embracing change is necessary to win victory in fierce competition
